Ever have one of those weeks where nothing seems to break your way? I had one last week. A few samples from my week.
- I forgot my security badge one day.
- My parking card was in my motorcycle jacket. I drove my car to work.
- USPS kept telling me they had fulfilled scheduled package pickups for an item I wanted to return. They didn’t.
- Someone who shall remain nameless chewed me out on text.
- Some much-needed clothing items are on back order.
- One of the forks on my motorcycle developed a leak.
- Due to bad planning on someone else’s part, I ended up driving about a hundred needless miles.
- A coworker seemed to be having a bad week. I bore the brunt of that.
Overall, nothing seemed to go my way. Did I complain? Yeah, a little, when things got particularly stressful. But here’s what I did to survive. I dealt with the problems as they reared their ugly heads.
- The security folks in my building are rather pleasant about forgotten badges.
- The receptionist at our office is, too, since she had to validate my parking for the day.
- The item I wanted to return is going to stay with me, and it’s going to be awesome.
- I learned that I’m pretty good at letting unwarranted criticism just roll off my back.
- A little more laundry got done.
- I made an appointment to get the bike fixed.
- A lot of great conversations happen in the car.
- A lot of empathy and a little strategic avoidance can get you a long way.
Did I have a great week? Nah. Did I let a bunch of minor junk destroy my overall outlook?
Nah.
