Okay, that may have been one of the most successful conversations with my kid, ever. She heard what I had to say, she asked meaningful questions, I had actual answers, and we generally both came away okay.
One that I thought was interesting was “What should I tell my Mom?” I told her “Tell her whatever you want. My cancer isn’t a secret, really just like anything else here at our house.” We talked about that for a while, and all seemed good.
Good job. I wouldn’t have expected it to go any other way.
I wish I had that level of confidence, but I was glad it came out as well as it did.
