Forget about being thankful

Thursday is Thanksgiving Day, a day that bloggers everywhere celebrate because it gives them at least one standard-issue post that makes everyone feel good to write. They all start with some variation of “I’m thankful for…”

None of you expect that from me, right? Good.

Instead of being thankful this year, I’d like you to try something else.

Be kind.

When we’re all mashed together like grandma’s spuds with people we don’t know all that well, or we know all too well, it’s easy to lose sight of kindness. Throw in a little alcoholic social lubricant, and it’s easy to watch the drama unfold, or even to create it.

Avoid all of it by simply being kind to those around you. Encourage them to do the same, and enjoy your holiday.
