I was up before the sun rose. I sucked down a couple cups of joe and two hard-boiled eggs, and hit the road. The sun rose over my head as the road disappeared beneath me effortlessly. Roads I normally avoid because of traffic were empty.
Coming off the slab and onto the twisty mountain roads, I fell into a rhythm. Faster, faster, chasing the limits, the machine an extension of my will. Because of the hour, I shared the road with nobody. It was all mine to do with what I would, and I did.
As the world started to wake up around me, I started seeing other motorcycles, and cars, and bicyclists, coming from all around and breaking my rhythm. The moment passed. It was time to go home.
While this is a great start to the day, and a great vision, what does it have to do with marketing? Here’s the marketing moral of the story: There is a first mover advantage, but it’s short-lived. Take advantage of it while you can.
